Why we walk....
On a lonely day in May of 2009, my friend, Rosalyn “Precious” Harmon, became victim to domestic violence. To this date, her case still remains cold. Because her life was cut short, Rosalyn’s son, Cameron, has been robbed of the chance for his mother to see him complete high school, graduate college, recite his wedding vows, or become a dad. Rosalyn was a special person and great friend. Her memory should be honored as such.
Fieldhouse Multimedia will host its annual W.A.V.E. 5k Walkathon, which began in October 2012, in Tyrrell Park. W.A.V.E. stands for Walk Against Violence Everywhere. Every 9 seconds, a woman is beaten or assaulted in the United States. For that reason, the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence designated October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Purple is the official color. There have been many examples of violence recently in the news that should be addressed as well. May it be family or friend that has experienced any form of violence, your opportunity to honor them is now. Join me and a cast of others in letting the world know that they have not been forgotten.
Please join us in our efforts to end violence on October 13, 2019, promptly at 9 am in Tyrrell Park for the 6th Annual Fieldhouse 5K W.A.V.E.Walk.

Let's Not Be Silent...
Domestic violence thrives when we are silent; but if we take a stand and not just work together, but WALK together, we can end domestic violence. It is our goal to have this annual event become a tower of hope in the community. We are firmly stating that violence against anyone is unacceptable and must be stopped. When we started 4 years ago we had 1 walker, myself; in 2013, we had over 50 walkers. This year we are expecting over 200 walkers. We are constantly growing and we need your help in this movement.
